Methods

Dr. Whillans’ approach to therapy is highly influenced by the methods and approaches of psychosynthesis, self-inquiry, mindfulness, body-mind-emotion work, the philosophy of the Enneagram, ‘cognitive behavioural therapy’ (CBT), emotional focused therapy (EFIT), gestalt, hykomi and her meditative practices as well as her own life experiences. She herself continues to explore her patterns, beliefs and behaviours.

Therapy sessions are solution focused and adapted to each person’s goals, values and needs.   Dr. Whillans makes extensive use of somatic (body) awareness, her knowledge of personality structures, and of kinesiology. Emphasis is placed on a mind-body-emotion orientation and focus is placed on identifying and exploring each client’s unique potential, personal purpose, strengths and potential.

content of each session varies according to each person’s therapy goals and current experience. The personal values and intentions of each client are always the focus and the guide for each session. We work together with non-judgment, respect and gentle curiousity to attend to your issues and challenges.

Therapy requires commitment and honesty from both the client and the therapist. This means that Dr. Whillans focuses on an honest and professionally transparent relationship with you.

Workshops

Dr. Whillans offers a variety of workshops. Each workshop encourages participants to explore certain aspects of our personality, coping, behaviour, and beliefs. As we explore ourselves in this way, we understand ourselves more clearly and this allows us to make choices that more closely fit our values and strengthen our relationships (with our selves, our partners, family, friends, pets, neighbours and colleagues).
